ClimatEducate is the climate change education project of the Alpha Team Organization-ATO, a Philippines-registered global youth non-profit organization that aims to be a platform for social and creative activism.
our story
ClimatEducate began as a post-training output by ATO members from the Philippines and Nepal, following their climate leadership training with former U.S. Vice President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Al Gore, at the Climate Reality Project Leadership Corps Training held in Manila in March 2016.
The project aimed to provide online climate change education and empower communities to innovate and address climate change-related issues. It was launched on April 6, 2016, through its Facebook page, with the support by the Alpha Team Organization.
The project's primary objective was to conceptualize climate change education materials through multimedia graphics. The project team has taken the initiative to collaborate with other organizations and create initiatives for community immersion as part of the climate change action. This was followed by opening applications for volunteer members. The project caught the attention of various interested and committed climate and environmental advocates from the Philippines, Nepal, Indonesia, Yemen, Nigeria, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Sudan, Cambodia, and Brazil, who now make up the current team and continue to grow.
The project continues to create open-access materials, conducts school and community outreach through online and non-online initiatives, collaborates with other partner organizations and communities, and promotes climate change education, which is being adopted by its project members and volunteers in their own schools and communities.
