Areas of Focus
Action for climate Empowerment (ACE)ACE refers to the Article 6 of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Convention Text which focuses on education, training, public awareness, public access to information, public participation, and international cooperation. Our Project aims to be one of its catalysts and "mover" through climate change education.
AdaptationThe Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) defines climate adaptation as adjustment in natural and human systems in response to an expected/actual climatic effects, which moderates harm or tries beneficial opportunities. Since most of our project members are in vulnerable developing countries, we decided to focus in community-led climate adaptation.
Capacity-BuildingThe UNFCCC recognizes capacity-building as an important element of the means of implementing climate-related actions. The role of children and the youth in climate action was first recognized in the UN Joint Framework on Children, Youth and Climate Change or JFI. The ATO - ClimatEducate Project also advocates for knowledge and capacity building among schools and communities that host our initiatives.
